Fall Term Opens in Girguit Court With Long Schedule Ahead

Beadies Fassett v C W Mannie opens the fall term in Girguit Court at nine. A crowded calendar follows including civil actions for contracts, real estate disputes, and damages, and criminal cases such as intoxication offenses and an assault with intent to kill. Judge Gaffey expected from Pierre. Kelley cases to be amended for trial.

Huron High OIl Pierre In Rough Saturday Gridiron

Two football games at the fair grounds drew large crowds. Huron high school beat Pierre high school 41 to 0 while Huron college tied Aberdeen normal 0 to 0. Squires starred for Huron, and Blake made a key run. Next Friday the high school will face Redfield at the fair grounds.

Supreme Court orders new trial for Hubbard in manslaughter case

The Supreme Court ordered a new trial for H. L. Hubbard who is serving fifteen years for the Cakebread murder. The high court reportedly faulted the trial judge for instructing the jury on first degree murder or manslaughter instead of second degree murder. Hubbard, tried last fall, was found guilty of manslaughter, with details of the June killing recounted as witnesses described the confrontation and shooting on Hubbard’s farm. The case may be retried this term or postponed to spring term. verdicts and legal arguments continue to unfold as the appeal proceeds. In other notes, Charles Hansen passed the Watertown pharmacy board exam and is now a registered pharmacist working with Miller’s store.

Huron Boy Honored Referee Appointment
