Improvements sweeping Huron from Tolmie block to residences

The Tolmie block on west Third street nears completion with a brick veneer storefront and two story frame upper floors costing near $10,000. In residential districts, J. W. Campbell leads with a $15,000 mansion on south Dakota avenue, followed by multiple new homes on Dakota avenue, Idaho street, and Wisconsin street, totaling over $2,000 in some cases and including a cottage for Postmaster Cooper. The World adds it now hosts a phone line, number 210, with two rings for editorial and three for business.

Judge fines J. E. Coon for being drunk

On Tuesday Judge Van Dalsem fined J. E. Coon ten dollars and costs for drunkenness. Coon has appeared in court several times on similar charges. Officials say the fines are reducing the number of drunks, though some locals claim the judge has raised the ante by five dollars.

All on Account of a Dog Delays Train Nine Minutes

The south bound Northwestern train was held nine minutes this morning to allow a woman to catch a dog and place it aboard. The animal was a common car but the associations attached to it were strong.

Canine Recaptured After Cord Jams Train

A train car cord failed allowing a dog to escape into the baggage area. The conductor restrained the train to recapture the dog which fled northward onto the prairie.

Water rents due by May 15 with shut off warning
