The tale ends with Caroline transforming hardship into resilience and marriage prospects for Granger and Julia. Mrs Saily Ann Burchard of Unadila posts in a newspaper warning foolish girls about her husband Ni jah Burchard whom she separated from six weeks after their marriage. She describes him as four feet high and wants the joy returned. The Erie branch of the Bank of the United States is authorized by recent legislation with Governor signing. The new branch promises to boost Lakes trade and surpass the Buffalo sale in value to the commercial community.
Senate hears Mr Ewine of Ohio on a resolution demanding Treasury reports on public land receipts from Ohio Indiana Illinois Missouri and Michigan Territory and transfers to eastern city banks since 1835 and bank deposit authority. Circular from Clinton Bank prompts questions about funds flow and banking practices.
A Ohio legislator presents a January report praising bank strength but condemning a powerful new deposit bank. He asks the Senate to investigate whether Treasury authorization allows the bank to limit public land payments in notes and force exchanges for specie, risking discredit to state banks. The resolution passed.
