A public notice from Norwalk researchers recounts vaccination efforts on April 15 and 16 after a local report of smallpox. Doctors tested a Lemon family pack, treated fever and rashes, and kept patients isolated. They declare no smallpox present and warn residents against panic.
A storm description from the Cosmopolitan records a dense black cloud approaching from the west on a Saturday afternoon. Thunder followed by a mud shower altered light and color, leaving streets and house fronts dingy and giving a vivid account of a “dust cloud” phenomenon in a Buenos Ayres village. Also noted is a local wedding notice: Hitler Asahel Moree marrying Miss Eliza Ann Benedict.
In this township on the 7th alt Mrs Jane Wenn aged 20 wife of Josiah B Wells leaves a grieving husband and two children. To Columbus on the 20th alt Mrs jChruanine WeEnvar wife of Joseph M Elvain dies after a short illness aged 23 leaving a distressed husband and mourning parents. Mrs M Elgain formerly of Ray in the family of S Gilbert notices of deaths appear in the Ohio Monitor indicating local bereavement.
