Plum trees revived by lime and charcoal treatment

In 14 years I removed 80 plum trees from my farm and planted them in rich sandy loam. After 13 years they never bore. In 1842 I applied shell lime and in 1843 powdered charcoal. In May blossoms appeared and a profusion of fruit followed. A worm caused black excrescences on limbs which I cut and burned. Responsible by ROBI L PELL and H L Luusworn.
