Fireworks Display Returns to Bakley Lawn on July 4

Debbie Eckman Wins First Illinois Trust Scholarship
Debbie Lynn Eckman, Huntley High School 1969 graduate, won the First Illinois Trust Scholarship worth $1,000 to her chosen school. Six finalists emerged from 32 entrants. Eckman was praised for beauty and poise by a panel of six judges. The Illinois Trust, active since 1965, holds over $16 million in Illinois investments across apartment complexes motels and office buildings in Springfield and other cities. Eckman was sponsored by grandfather Lyle Pape of Elgin, an early $10,000 investor. trust leadership highlighted regional sales and dividend history.

Car Recovered In Three Days
On June 19 1969 Glen Conley reported the loss of his 1968 Chevrolet station wagon parked on Main Street. By June 23 Chicago Police stopped three suspects in a stolen car and notified Huntley Police, who coordinated with county and state authorities. The three suspects were jailed in McHenry County awaiting trial with $7500 bonds each.

Continuation School Board Meeting Minutes
The June 18 continuation of the regular school board meeting notes attendance includes Mr Bein Mr Jirik Miss Mackeben and Mr Stading with Messrs Bastian Dr Gray and Mrs Thron absent. Motions authorize 8596 74 to American National Bank for interest on building bonds and to pay anticipation war rent and interest at State Bank of Huntley. Both motions pass four yeas. The Huntley Lions Club held a Ladies Night at Marengo Ridge Golf Course with a steak and lobster dinner. Tail-twister Clem Hartman fined Howard Ruth Eldon Pfaff and others, Howard Ruth received an award rooster, and a traveling bag was given to Ruth.
