The Walther Leaguers of Trinity Lutheran Church Huntley will hold their annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday June 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. The League serves barbecue hot dogs chips ice cream pie cake and beverages. The whole community is invited to attend with their families.
On Friday June 13 Roger Nolan of 137 Terry Court Woodstock IL struck Ellen Conrad's parked vehicle at 16 May Grayslake. Nolan allegedly traveled east on Main Street crossed Church Street and bumped the rear bumper causing tire damage and curb impact. Patrolman Donald Greene cited Nolan for careless driving under village ordinance.
The Huntley Boy Scouts thank all who helped with the paper drive last Saturday June 14. A total of 8 ton of paper was collected. The next drive will be in October.
Wilmer Rohlwing reports 1125 people were served from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday June 15 Father's Day. All food sold. The Huntley Lions Club used the event as its main fundraiser to support youth activities in the Huntley area.
The Huntley American Legion staged a flag burning in front of the Legion home on Coral Street. Commander Robert Schultz read a pledge to retire faded flags with honor, while Marine PFC Douglas Jordi in dress uniform saluted and the Colors were condemned and burned.
The Huntley Board of Education met June 11 1969 with five members present and two absent. Minutes were approved. Resignation of Mary Little approved. Regular bills paid. Interest payment of 5689.32 to Harris Trust for building bonds approved. Drivers Education payment of 2400 for 1969 70 approved. Salary schedule adopted with attachment referenced.
A June 11 1969 special meeting approved low bids for park projects totaling 22786 50 with a carry over of 147000 for next year. Bakley Construction awarded 2975 00 for road work Zimmerman and Kahler 6200 00 entrance work Lake Region Inc 5000 00 shelter with engineering 1797 50.
Officers will be installed on Ladies Night on June Mist at Marengo Ridge. Names listed include President Wilmer Rohlwing and 1st vice Ellen Pfaff along with Howard Ruth William Kudamer Don McCullum Mel Ewert Roger Cole Art Wicke Gene Hardy and Charles fhe.
