Huntley Village Board Meets Reports Finances And Water Tower

The Huntley village board met June 5 with full attendance except President Brill. Treasurer reports show receipts and dispersments totaling 9887.34 with balances in multiple funds. Mr Woodman announced progress on the new water tower and well and that land donation from Mr Bakley is being sought, with a golf ball style tower estimated to cost $5000 more.

Huntley High School Holds Baccalaureate and Commencement

The Huntley High School baccalaureate was held in the gym with Mrs. LeRoy Marks on the organ and Father Day delivering the sermon and invocation. Commencement followed Tuesday evening with Rev. Harm giving the invocation and Richard Johnson presenting awards to Valedictorian John Bastian Salvatorian Robert Wicke and four students earning Illinois State scholarship recognition.

Sue Eggers Named First Runner Up in Harvard Milk Day Queen

Sue Eggers daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert Eggers of Myrtle Street Huntley was chosen first runner up in the Harvard Milk Day Queen contest held June 7 at Harvard High School Field House due to rain. Deb orah Brady 17 daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Brady was the winner. Eggers was presented by WREX TV president and was introduced as president of the Student Council GAA church choir and a church member.

Guest Pastor At Trinity

The Reverend Roger Young, Concordia Seminary 1955 graduate, will be guest pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church this Sunday June 15. He previously served at Calvary Lutheran Charleston and Ebeneezer Chicago for 11 years, now Missionary-at-large for Urban Affairs with the Northern Illinois District Board of Missions. This marks the third week that Church notices mention his visit.

Huntley Band Ends Season With Camp in Wisconsin

Sixty Huntley High School band students attended a two day camp at George Williams Camp Williams Bay Wisconsin near Lake Geneva last week. They practiced six hours daily focusing on marching techniques and music memorization for Harvard Milk Day parade held on June 7. Students paid their own expenses and enjoyed swimming boating tennis volleyball golf and other recreation in leisure time. Continued on page 2.
