Memorial Day Services Honor Fallen Across America
Memorial Day observances were held at Huntley cemetery on May 3 with Rev. L Dudley Day of St Marys Catholic Church offering invocation. Bill Barry recited the Gettysburg Address as Robert and Debbie Eckman sang America the Beautiful. George Hudson of Hinsdale spoke on the Freedom Trail in Boston and the American Creed urging citizens to uphold liberty and honor those who died for freedom.

Fly Up To Junior Scouts Fly Up Ceremony Honors 3rd Grade Brownies
The May 27 Pot Luck at the Lutheran Church Social Hall brought Jr Troops 258 and 134 together with Brownies from Troops 59 334 and 220 and their mothers for the Fly Up ceremony. Cadette Troop 210 accompanied the event with awards presentations, songs, corsages for helpers and gratitude gifts for leaders. Approximately 140 attendees witnessed the transition from Brownies to Junior Scouts and the year’s badge achievements.

Huntley Hair Fashions at Algonquin Road and Church Street held an open house on June 1 to introduce owner-operator Mr Jack Zenk to the community. About 60 to 70 people attended and a free wig was awarded to Mrs Blanche Freund. Appointments for permanents and hair dressings were taken. Mr Zenk praised the community response.

Huntley Park Board Minutes May 25 1969 Meeting
The Huntley Park Board met on May 25 at 8 p.m. With Commissioners Piske Tessendorf Deicke and Park Engineer Scheflew present and Commissioner Parick Riley absent. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The treasurer reported a balance of 5322.22 on April 1 1969, bills paid 2074.26 and a 9.02 deposit, ending the year at 3256.98. The treasurer's report was approved unanimously.

Outdoor Memorial Mass in Huntley at St. Mary’s Cemetery
The first Huntley outdoor Mass was offered by Rev. L Dudley Day at St Marys Catholic Cemetery as part of Memorial Day services. A new altar built by Art Schultz was donated by the Drendel children. The ciborium honored Lt Andrew J Lohneis, WWII aviator killed July 25 1945. Non Catholics attended alongside Catholics across all three cemeteries.
