Huntley Village Board approves grants and raises salaries
At the June 1 meeting Huntley trustees reported Baxter and Woodman filed a Federal Grant application for sewerage treatment plant upgrades including chlorine and a polishing pond as required by the state. Salaries for street maintenance man Percy Swanson and two police officers plus Police Chief Richard Nelson were increased. The board praised the police for law and order and discussed flushing hydrants to improve water quality before adjournment.

Huntley Lions Club Bar-B-Q Serves Classic Dinner Sunday
The Huntley Lions Club hosts its annual chicken barbecue at the Huntley Fire Station on Sunday June 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Charcoal broiled chicken baked potatoes salad rolls beans and beverages will be served. Proceeds fund local civic projects including new band uniforms for Huntley High School.

Weekend events include a June 11 cream social on the Congregational Church lawn from 4 to 8. Bake Sale Supports 1969 Prom and Banquet
The class of 69 sponsors a bake sale Saturday June 10 at five o'clock. It will be held on the band stand during the Legion Carnival. Pies cakes and candies will be sold to raise funds for next year's prom and the Junior Senior banquet. Members should bring two items to the band stand before 5 p.m.

Two youths, 12 and 13, picked up by Huntley police
Police picked up two boys aged 12 and 13 at a grease rendering plant near Powder Park after they ran away from home. They had swapped a penny worth 15 cents for a $150 penny, hid it under their sister's bed, and planned a nocturnal bicycle trip to Rockford and Wisconsin before being returned to their parents' custody.

The Huntley American Legion Carnival runs Thursday June 8 through Sunday June 11 on the Village Square. A Friday fish fry starts at 5 30 p m. Saturday offers reduced ride prices in the afternoon. A Sunday chicken fry begins at 1 a m.

Miss Faye Marlowe of Huntley is valedictorian and Miss Nancy Jensen of rural Huntley is salutatorian for the Huntley High School graduating class of 1967.
