West Center State College Hosts Open House Week
West Center of Chicago State College at 500 N Pulaski hosts two open houses this week to introduce the new senior college facility. A teachers and administrators session runs 2 to 5 pm today with tours and displays, followed by a student tea Friday same hours hosted by West Center students. Boy Own Cop Recovers Stolen Bicycle After Alley Assault
Marvin L. Houle reports he pursued two youths who assaulted him in an alley behind 1714 N Sawyer and stole his bicycle. About an hour and a half later he spotted one rider on his bike near 3226 Wabansia, called out to stop, and the rider jumped off and fled.

Parents Receive Medal for Son Killed in Vietnam
The Silver Star for outstanding bravery, posthumously awarded to Army Specialist William M. Geier, will be presented to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Geier of Maywood at 11 a.m. Saturday ceremonies at Fort Sheridan. Geier was killed June 19 in Vietnam. The Geiers lived at 3913 North for many years before moving to Maywood two years ago.

Arrest Clears Up 60 Thetis
Two Austin district officers, Tony Kessinke and John Dowling, arrested Fernando Rodriguez after matching him and his car to an Area 5 burglary bulletin. Rodriguez, posing as a workman for five months, overpowered the officers when he produced a gun in a stolen vehicle. He is tied to more than 60 break-ins on the West-Northwest Side.
