Kenneth Pullen 74 dies in Yucaipa California after brief illness. Funeral Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lindhart Funeral Home Thor with Reverend David Dick officiating. Burial East Ullensvang Cemetery Thor. Survivors include wife Louise son Norman Las Vegas daughter Floris Pomeroy nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Born October 27 1908 in Oakland. Married Grace Nelson 1934 later to Louise Wacker 1981.

Mrs. William F. Weir dies. funeral held in Humboldt
Mrs. Marjorie Knowles Weir, 79, of Spencer and former Humboldt resident, died Saturday in Spencer Municipal Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm at Humboldt Congregational United Church of Christ, with Rev. Francis Burr officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery. Surviving are her husband William F. Weir, daughter Patricia Gray of Spencer, three grandchildren, brother Max Knowles of Pocahontas, and sister Barbara Bleyer of Beloit Wisconsin. Born August 4 1903 in Kingsley Iowa she lived in Schaller and Humboldt before moving to Spencer in 1980. Funeral arrangements were by Lindhart Funeral Home.

Leslie Presler Dies. Funeral Held in Thor Iowa
Leslie Presler 73 of Thor died in Phoenix Arizona after a 10 day hospitalization. Services were conducted March 12 at Ullensvang Lutheran Church Thor with Rev Timothy P Larson officiating. Burial followed at Washington Township Cemetery Duncombe. Survived by wife Anna sons Kenneth and Keith daughters Kathryn Ersland and Donna Mocklebust with 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Born July 8 1907, he farmed near Duncombe and near Thor before retiring in 1973.

Mr and Mrs Ray Straw of rural Gilmore City welcomed a daughter on March 8 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Lisa Marie weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and has three brothers and a sister at home. Mr and Mrs Jack Dreyer of Dakota City welcomed Jill Marie on March 11 at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Jill Marie weighed 9 pounds 7 ounces and is their first child. Michelle Havlik, daughter of Mr and Mrs David Havlik of Humboldt, is selected for a two and a half day Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation workshop May 6 8 at Hotel Savery Des Moines hosted by Des Moines Jaycees. Foundation programs motivate high school sophomores to develop leadership and community contributions with two delegates advancing to the International Leadership Seminar in Orlando in August. Humboldt County Historical Association met March 7 at the Senior Citizens Center in Humboldt. Mrs. W. B. Tigges presided as members shared remedies used to treat ailments. Four and Five Year Olds Ready for New School Program
The school district approves a $4.3 million budget to fund an early childhood program costing about $4,500 for an aide plus staffing changes. Four kindergarten sections and one prep class are planned for fall with 102 kindergarten-eligible students. The program aims to develop social and language skills and maturity before starting formal schooling. The county also plans to repave a removed building slab area for parking and assigns officials to upcoming conferences and meetings.
