Esther R Koob dies. Humboldt woman obituary notice
Funeral services for Mrs Esther R Koob of Humboldt will be held Thursday December 22 at 11 a.m. at Lindhart Funeral Home with Rev Richard Kretzschmar officiating. She died December 18 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Interment is Indian Mound Cemetery. Survivors include sons Robert Bruce Keith Merrill Koob Jr and others, daughters Mia Lyle Marjorie, Maxine Sweeting Mildred Wagner Vivian Heidt Esther Higgins, 65 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Esther Sinn Koob born October 12 1904 in Livermore. Married Merrill Koob in 1922. lived in Burt farmed near Livermore Woolstock Dakota City Humboldt. Mr Koob died 1982. She resided in a care center for the last year and a half.

Elvina Giddings 72 Humboldt teacher dies December 17
Elvina Marie Nelson Giddings 72 of Humboldt died Saturday December 17 at Tompkins Medical Center Friendship Haven Fort Dodge. Funeral services were held Tuesday December 20 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Humboldt with Pastors Otto and Molldrem officiating. Interment Union Cemetery Humboldt. She taught in Galva Mattoon and West Bend before moving to Humboldt in 1943 and resumed teaching after 1965 until 1971. Survived by sons Gerry Giddings Omaha and William Giddings Fort Dodge, seven grandchildren, two brothers Harvey Nelson Sioux Rapids and Otis Nelson Storm Lake. Funeral arrangements by Lindhart Humboldt.

Esta Schultz died Friday December 16 at Westview Manor Britt. Funeral held December 19 at First Baptist Corwith with Rev. Marion McCoy officiating. burial in Corwith cemetery. Survivors include a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, former secretary at Corwith school. she was active in the church and Women's Club and was a sculptress.

Humboldt County Sheriff November Report 1983
Humboldt County sheriff department records show in November 1983 two burglaries six thefts and six criminal mischief cases investigated. Officers responded to six property damage accidents three injury accidents and assisted the Iowa Highway Patrol on one property damage incident. One personal injury and one fatality occurred. Ninety-three traffic citations issued and 43 civil papers served with arrests. Miscellaneous calls included dog alarm and fire assists plus aid to another department. Six civil complaints 16 motorists assisted three livestock out calls and two harassment complaints. Officers logged 7,887 miles and 1,062 hours of work.
