Obituary of Ole Tjelle of Goldfield Renwick area
Ole Tjelle, 83, rural Goldfield, died Friday, December 9, at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held December 12 at Lake Lutheran Church, Renwick, with burial at Lake Lutheran Cemetery. He was born September 28, 1900, in Braceville, Illinois, and moved to the Renwick Goldfield area as a child. He married Ann Wisgerhof on March 21, 1940, and they farmed in the Renwick Goldfield area until his 1970 retirement. Survivors include his wife Ann, two sons Tom and Jerry, four grandchildren and five step grandchildren. He served on the Hardy Cooperative Elevator board from 1940 to 1960 and was a member of Lake Lutheran Church and Farm Bureau.

Slippery road conditions kept police busy in Humboldt and Dakota City. Diane Malina 23 of Sheldon was charged after her car struck a parked vehicle on Eighth Street North in Humboldt while failing to maintain control. A two vehicle collision on Highway 169 near Fifth Street North left Jerry Lehman 53 of Omaha and Donna Stamper 61 of Humboldt injured. Lehman charged with failing to yield on a left turn. A Dakota City crash on Highway 3 left Michael Helmke 35 of Humboldt and Alpha Kleen 84 of Humboldt with no charges filed after removing vehicles.

Bjornson Named NW Bell Marshalltown Manager
Marshalltown native and Humboldt transplant Mike Bjornson has been appointed manager of Northwestern Bell operations in Marshalltown. A 1966 hire, he served as a lineman and in other roles before transferring in 1969, took over duties December 1, and will oversee Marshalltown operations while continuing to supervise installation and maintenance staff. Bjornson and his wife Nancy have two children, Michael and Jennifer. Nancy is daughter of Mary Callahan of Humboldt.

Thor woman charged after two car crash on Second Avenue
A Thor woman, 19, Maria Grimes, faced a charge of failure to yield after her auto struck Julie Carlson, 28, of Dakota City on Second Avenue North in Dakota City around 7 48 am Monday. In a separate Humboldt crash, Laura Niemeyer 23 faced a failure to yield charge after colliding with Lay Heathman 30 on Seventh Avenue North at 12 16 pm Monday.

Eleven individuals in Humboldt County Magistrate Court pleaded innocent to selling beer to minors after a joint sting by Humboldt and Algona police. They requested jury trials. a 17 year old decoy helped authorities, with 13 more charged in Algona. A juvenile suspect is referred to authorities.
