Warns of excessive salt use on food

While salt is essential in small amounts, most diets exceed the recommended 500 milligrams daily, often due to natural and added salt in meats, dairy, produce, and prepared foods. The piece warns that high intake is linked to hypertension and heart disease and suggests habits can be unlearned.
