Goodwill Industries Hosts Scout Led Good Turn Day

Hubbard Scouts joined 2 000 Mahoning Valley Scouts on Saturday to collect filled bags for Goodwill. The drive supports 151 employees and the rehabilitation center in Youngstown offering training in areas like business, upholstery, switchboard work for the sightless, and repair services. Open house is set for Saturday November 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. Tours and reservations are available by calling 747 4477.

Hubbard High to stage Our Town under junior sponsorship

The Hubbard High junior class presents Our Town on Nov 22 and 23 directed by Jesse Hall. Joan Barnes greets audiences as Stage Manager narrator with cast includes Bob Styer Dr Gibbs Steve Ranter Mr Webb Nancy Pagano Mrs Gibbs Geil Galiffo Mrs Webb David Verch George Gibbs and Carol Baranski Emily Webb. Tickets are $1 and all seats are reserved with limited availability.

Ferrick Heads Hubbard Muscular Dys Trophy Drive

Charles Ferrick will be general chairman of the Muscular Dys trophy drive in Hubbard to be conducted November 28 29 and 30. Ferrick active in the Hubbard Kiwanis Club will direct the drive with Key Club members from Hubbard High School assisting. Hubbard police place canisters in all business places. Co chairmen are Tom Hagen president and Paul Knight.

Rotary World poster contest invites Hubbard students

Hubbard Rotary Club invites secondary students to enter the Worldwide Poster Art Contest themed World Peace through World Understanding. Local winner gets 25 dollars, district and international prizes follow with judging by regional art figures and notices to submit by March 1949. Posters exhibited March 16–22 in Hubbard. International winners announced later in 1969.

Trustees deny Hubbard Township zone change as opposition cited

Hubbard Township trustees rejected the proposed zone change from residential to commercial for a Credit Union of GATX site after a public hearing showed broad resident opposition. They warned against spot zoning and noted the applicant could find non residential locations. A public hearing on Nov 25 will discuss Oakland Development Co. proposal.

Hubbard council approves 10 percent power discount

Hubbard electrical customers will receive a 10 percent discount on February 1969 bills after a 4 to 3 council vote. The measure, pushed by Councilman Bolctolk and supported by Cavanaugh Hatch and Rock, faced opposition from Colletta Ward Madeline Pannunzio.

Nine Hubbard Girl Scout troops with about 140 girls display handmade dolls in the Dolly Derby at Strauss' Austintown Plaza November 20 7 30 p m to raise funds for handicapped individuals in Mahoning Trumbull and Columbiana Counties Proceeds aid Christ Mission Goodwill Industries and are judged by age groups from 9 to 17. Three Hubbard attorneys Richard Scullin Ray Rice and Steve Chuey received Jurists Degrees Doctor of Law from Western Reserve University. The three studied for the bachelor of law degrees together in the same law school cohort.
