Rabies Clinic Set for May 28 in Hubbard

Hubbard police announce Trumbull County rabies inoculation day on May 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Hubbard Fire Station. Dogs must be inoculated by four months. Chick embryo vaccine protects three years for dogs over one year and one year for younger dogs. Fee is $3. Warren Dog Warden will tour Hubbard on Mondays and Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a Hubbard officer. Unrestrained dogs will be picked up and owners cited and required to go to Warren to reclaim and pay.

VFW National Champion Ritual Team to Perform

The VFW National Champion Ritual Team from Warren VFW Post 1090 will perform at Hubbard VFW Post 3767 on Sunday June 15 at 4 pm. The 40 minute ceremony is open to the public with no admittance after start. New officers will be installed May 28 and assume duties after the Cleveland state convention in July.

Final gun handling session set for May fourth

Hubbard report shows over five weeks a group of boys learned gun safety and proper handling. On Saturday May 4 at 2 p.m. the Jaycees under Rodney Toth with helpers Jack Rogers Jim Sachs and Dave Shields will conduct the final class with chances for first second or third place ratings.

Inter-Club Council Elects Officers at May 15 Meeting

Dr. Thomas P. Crowe was elected chairman. Tom Papa named vice chairman and Margaret Keiper secretary-treasurer. Walter Trock elected representative to Groups I and II. Reports from four committees were read. Next meeting will be announced.

VFW Sets Poppy Day Drive for May 23 and 24

Hubbard report says Veterans of Foreign Wars will stage Poppy Day on May 23 and 24. Proceeds fund aid and comfort for disabled veterans and widows and orphans of deceased veterans. Chairmen are Mrs Sam Vittorio and Mrs John Tolnar is co-chair.

VFW to Put Flags on Vets Graves in Hubbard

Hubbard VFW Post 3767 will place flags on all veterans graves this Sunday in May. Families are asked to check markers and request a replacement from the VFW Post Home at no charge. Geraniums will be planted at cemetery monuments later in the week.

The Chestnut Ridge PTA will install officers at its last meeting on May 22 at 7 30 p.m. in the auditorium. First and second graders will be spotlighted and the fifth and sixth grade instrumental group will participate in the program.

Notman Elected Kiwanis Club President at May Meeting

Hubbard Robert Notman of Chestnut Ridge Road was elected president of the Kiwanis Club at the May 14 meeting. Pete Snyder will be vice president and Anthony Ponzio treasurer. Directors include Arba Bear Ralph Cooper Fred Di Lulle Bill Glaser John Petro Francis Rhodes and Glenn Stiver. Notman, installation foreman for Ohio Bell, has been a member nine years with wife Nina and two sons Thomas and Donald.

Hubbard Centennial Group holds 1868 incorporation reveal

Hubbard-The Hubbard Centennial Corp meets in council chambers with President Joseph R. Vitullo presiding. Officials report that Hubbard was incorporated in 1868, though the celebration will occur a year later. Committee heads present reports and seek more volunteers for upcoming meetings. The next session is May 21 at 8 p.m. in council chambers.

Mayor denied access to city ordinances and minutes

Hubbard Mayor Joseph J. Baldine, who won a court ruling over income tax records, was denied a key to the clerk’s office housing ordinances and minutes. Council split four to three, with four votes to grant expanded copy access and time for indexing. The meeting also covered Myron Street sewer plans and other city concerns.

The Hubbard Centennial Corp appeals to Hubbard residents and nearby communities to stay home July 19 through July 26 for the Centennial plus one celebration. The event seeks to attract visitors from distant centers to Hubbard and make the summer festival a record community celebration worth scheduling for.

William Hackett named valedictorian of Hubbard High School class of 1969 with a 3.991 average and extensive science and student activity honors. Road Closure Impacts Hubbard Township Traffic

Bell Wick Road in Hubbard Township will close from 8 a m Thursday between State Route 304 and Mount Everett Road for construction on State Route 80. Seifert Lewis Road parallel to Bell Wick is now open to traffic.

Teen Dance Benefits Danny Fund In Hubbard

A VFW Hall dance on May 10 raised over 300 dollars for the Danny Tucciarone Fund. Sponsored by the VFW and Delta Phi Delta Girls of Hubbard High School, with Explorer Post 111 assistance and music by the Poppi band for nearly 300 teens. The Hubbard Auxiliary Police and Tucciarone family were thanked for support.

Tax rate set for Hubbard Union Cemetery maintenance

A joint meeting with councilmen and trustees approved a two tenths of a mill tax for Hubbard Union Cemetery maintenance for city and township residents. William Cavanaugh was elected to a three year term on the cemetery board starting January 1, 1970, replacing Edward Madeline. Other board members are Emil Pucak and William Colletta.

Nancy Oltmann of Hubbard earned seventh place in the English 9 examination as part of the Ohio Tests of Scholastic Achievement final test program. Among 1,604 participants nationwide at 29,527 centers, 724 high schools were represented across 25 subjects.

William Giblin of Hubbard Ohio has earned an academic scholarship from the United States Naval Academy Foundation. He will attend Culver Military Academy Indiana in 1969 70 as part of a postgraduate program preparing for entry to the Naval Academy.
