Hubbard Public Library gets boost from $1720 donation

Hubbard The Hubbard Community Fund donated 1720 to Hubbard Public Library to back the Summer Reading Program in the Children's Room from June 12 to July 25. The 1989 program theme is Join the S T A R S at Hubbard Public Library with crafts movies storytimes and giveaways for children ages three through 13.

Fourth Indian Pow-Wow at Harding Park in June

The Ohio American Indian Council hosts its fourth annual Ohio Beautiful Earth Pow-Wow at Harding Park June 10 and 11 with native dancing singing drumming foods and crafts. Host Drum Treaty of 1794 Drum Group from Salamanca N Y and MC Bill Crouse Sr. Gates 10 am to 10 pm Saturday and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday Grand Entries June 10 at 1 and 7 pm and June 11 at 1 pm. Admission 3 adults 2 seniors and children 6-12. under 5 free. Proceeds go to OAIC Akwesasne Freedom School and Akwesasne Notes. funded in part by Ohio Arts Council grant. For info contact 536-6852.

Clean-up days set for June in Hubbard city

Hubbard residents are reminded that the annual spring cleanup will be held in June due to street improvements. Streets Superintendent Jerry Campana said the east side will be cleaned June 5 to 9 and the west side June 12 to 16. Residents were reminded not to place garbage trash grass clippings cement stones foliage or similar items curbside.

Hubbard pageants set July 14 at Roma Manor

Hubbard Kiwanis Club sponsors two pageants on July 14 at 7 p.m. in Roma Manor to crown Hubbard's Little Miss and Young Miss. Contestants are girls in Hubbard City and Township ages one through twelve, with a June 20 deadline to enter and rules by mail. Master of ceremonies will be Smoken Bill Cannon of Z-96. Open forum planned on occult topic May 23 in Hubbard

Hubbard An open meeting is set for Tuesday May 23 at 8 p m in City Council Chambers for residents to ask questions about Satanism and occult practices. Police Chief Ray Moffitt and Officer Ray Wells organized the event with school and township officials invited.

Hubbard Schools appoint new full time athletic director

Ed Bates, previously at Uniontown Lake High School for nine years, will become Hubbard Schools athletic director for the 1989-90 year. He signs a three year contract at 37500 per year, with the post as administrative. Bates will also oversee the Hubbard Community Pool. The transition ends Dennis Mathews’ term as athletic director.

Examination schedule announced Hubbard High School event

Hubbard High School principal Richard J. Bucheni announced the exam timetable. Senior exams are set for May 26 and May 30 during regular classes. Underclass exams run May 31, June 1 and June 2. Students must stay in the building until 12 50 p.m. daily and then may leave or arrange transportation. A light lunch is served from 12 50 to 1 15 p.m. for those without transport. Study halls run until 2 40 p.m. for remaining high school students.

Daniel Williams, owner of Williams Machine Co. at 461 N. Main St., Hubbard, has run the shop since 1969. A Hubbard Board of Education member, Navy torpedo repair veteran, Raven Vocational School alumnus, and former tool and die maker, he built a career across multiple firms before striking out on his own. Married to Ann Roman with three children, his sons Bill and Ann Marie Nicola now work in the business.
