Three Hubbard High juniors Mike Robek Chris Harrison and Bob Tootmeena Hubbard pen School will attend Buckeye Boys State at Bowling Green State University June 18 to 24 in its 54th year The program uses a hands on format to teach local county and state government and the two party system with citizens campaigning for offices such as governor or mayor and serving for the week.

Joe Vitullo enshrined in East High Hall of Fame
Hubbard golf pioneer Joe Vitullo was enshrined at East High School Sports Hall of Fame dinner at the ITAM Club in Youngstown. A 38 year Hubbard Golf Course pro, Vitullo 73, received multiple honors including golfer of the year 1963 and Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame 1972 plus Hubbard All-Sports Hall of Fame 1978. He introduced golf innovations and organized several area events, led the local PGA, and mentored many players while championing women’s golf and veterans programs.

A Red Cross blood drive at Hubbard High School on Friday May 5 offers a free Pioneer Waterland Park admission ticket valued at 9.95 to each donor who registers from 8 30 a m to 2 30 p m. The ticket is valid through July 1 and located in Chardon. Coupons for 2 95 off additional tickets will be available, with 50 cents donated to the Red Cross for each coupon redeemed. Donors who have not given blood in the last 56 days are eligible.
