Hubbard schools history tracks growth from Reed to high school
The Hubbard system expanded with Reed Elementary in 1960 61 housing 860 students and 24 teachers funded by an $850000 bond. The building included 27 classrooms a lunch room a gym and auditorium overseen by first principal Miss Mary E Snyder. Ridge Elementary followed on Chestnut Ridge Road with six classrooms and combined gym auditorium. Roosevelt Elementary received kindergartners through sixth graders after reorganization in 1960. High school opened in 1953 on Hall Avenue and was memorialized after principal Thomas Hall died in a auto crash. Sontag resigns as Hubbard principal
Hubbard Board accepts the resignation of Richard Sontag 60 after 34 years in the Hubbard school system. He will retire, enjoy more vacation time, and previously served as associate principal, ninth grade counselor, and senior government teacher. He and wife Katherine have no plans yet.
