Hubbard residents file petitions in Warren primary race

Two Hubbard residents have filed petitions for the June primary as candidates seek party nominations across county and statewide offices. Mosora wins Roosevelt School spelling bee

Hubbard notes the third annual Fourth Grade Spelling Bee at Roosevelt School on March 19. Jon Mosora won in the 14th round and will represent the school at the Vindicator Spelling Bee in May at South High Field House. Alternate to the Windy Bee if he cannot attend is Joye Bartok. third place went to Maria Giangiuli.

Reed Middle School wins three $500 grants for career studies

Hubbard Reed Middle School received three grants totaling 1500 from the Trumbull County Career Development Center. Educators Juleen Angelo Lorraine Law Margaret Halavick Patti Gilida Gloria Brown Cecilia Amedia and Paul Rucek led proposals: Retail Learning Laboratory Career Awareness and Project Update to broaden career education for grades five through eight and learning disabled students.

The Hubbard Board of Education approved the 1982 83 calendar at the March 22 meeting. Key dates include August 31 first day of school, September 6 Labor Day holiday, November 12 parent teacher conference day, Thanksgiving break November 25 26, Christmas vacation December 20 to January 3 classes resume, January 17 teacher inservice day, February 21 Presidents Day no school, March 28 Easter vacation start, April 8 end of third quarter, May 30 Memorial Day break, June 9 end of second semester and June 10 last day for teachers.

Six Hubbard High youths to attend Boys State program

Hubbard Buckeye Boys State, an American Legion project teaching government at municipal county and state levels, will host six Hubbard High School boys this year. Three will serve as delegates and three as alternates. Selection policy on valedictorian revised

Hubbard The Valedictorian Salutatorian Selection Committee proposed a revised policy, approved by the Board of Education, to pick the valedictorian from the class by highest 4.0 GPA and the salutatorian by the second highest. Easter Egg Hunt Planned by Hubbard Officials at Harding Park

Hubbard City Council members and officials announce the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Harding Park on Saturday April 3 at 1 p.m. In rain, the event moves to April 10. About 500 eggs will be hidden for age groups 1 to 3 and 4 to 10, with chocolate bunnies donated by Pete Mageros of Mageros Candies as grand prizes.
