Township Zoning Inspector Frank McLain seeks updated Ohio Revised Code rules to curb junk yard problems. Trustees plan to ask Sheriff Jakmas to enforce code, noting he is shorthanded due to budget cuts. A resolution targets vandalism and theft by transient vendors, requiring a $25 fee.
In cooperation with President Reagan's Cheese for Needy Families program the Rotary Club will distribute free American cheese to needy community families this weekend at the fire station 33 West Liberty Street from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday March 27 and Sunday March 28. Recipients must show proof of need such as a pastor letter social service director proof of social security food stamps or welfare or be a Buckeye Card holder and sign a certification.

Include names addresses phone numbers baby name birth date and sex and a self addressed stamped envelope for return if desired.
Hubbard Board of Education votes to place a 7 mill operating levy on the June ballot to offset a proposed $420000 state funding cut and avert a projected deficit. Superintendent James D E ramo notes a $6 million annual spend and possible personnel and program cuts. one board member questions timing and urges community input.
Hubbard city council members will wait until the April 5 meeting to amend an ordinance that would grant AFSCME workers a 250 dollar yearly parity allowance to match the off duty gun maintenance allowance provided to city policemen in their contract. The ordinance had been slated for passage at the current meeting.
Ridge alumni plan an open house at Ridge School on May 22 from 3 to 7 p.m. to memorialize the building’s years as a grade school. They seek attendees, photos, and information. contacts include Evelyn Rodecker, Oliver Hackett, Joyce McQuiston, and Raymond Lee. The next planning meeting is April 13 at Central Christian Church.
