Dr. Rudy Braydich DDS has been named the 1982 president of the Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce. New officers include Postmaster Joseph Bunn and Carol DeFrank. Plans include offices in Truck World Mall, a February 1 availability, a budget pending February review, a flag kit sale, and an I Love Hubbard Day during the July two day picnic.

Mrs. Erin E. Alexander head of Hubbard High School English Department and journalism teacher dies at 61. Born May 31 1920 in Akron she lived in Hubbard most of life with stints in Oregon. She taught 26 years directing student publications The Hub and Highlighter and served as editor for staff and faculty.

Plans for Hubbard youth center revealed
Hubbard leaders unveil initial steps to convert the vacated Ohio Bell building on East Liberty Street into a youth recreation area. Councilman Edward Palestro said the project is in early stages with hopes to start within six months pending community support and city checks by the Chamber of Commerce.

City Council Eyes Vehicle Search Law
Newly elected Councilman at Large Robert Bolchalk asks the Law Director to study a possible ordinance letting police search vehicles for theft on public property. State law now allows warrantless vehicle searches in public areas. Niles already passed such an ordinance. Warren may follow. New Nazarene sanctuary to be dedicated April 4
The Hubbard Church of the Nazarene nears completion on a new Colonial style sanctuary seating 350, with 62 square foot area, a 40 foot connecting wing, two restrooms, and conversion of the old sanctuary to classrooms. Ground broke last July and dedication is set for April 4 with Rev. Jenkins delivering the message.

Township police get pay raise in Hubbard
Township Trustees announced a 7 percent police pay hike retroactive to January 1 with base pay for officers after probation set at 12 600 and top scale at 14 880. first year probationers expected to earn 10 920. Dispatcher wages listed at 10 920 and full time dispatchers at 4.65 hourly. A 1983 six percent increase was tentatively agreed pending financial status. Trustees also expect a 2 097 refund from the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation for a prior overpayment.
