Pay talks stall as city weighs affordable wage offer

First federal revenue sharing check arrives

Hubbard reports its first federal revenue sharing payment for the first half of 1972 totaling 12 972. The second half is due in February or March and may be adjusted upward. Mayor Baldine chairs the Trumbull Mahoning Mayors Association and argues the formula is unfair. Motors urged to drive safely during holidays

Hubbard police chief Ernest DeMatteo urged motorists to have a safe holiday season and warned of a crackdown on drunken driving. He reminded drivers that DWI carries three days to six months in jail and up to $500 fine. He also advised locking car doors containing purchases to prevent thefts from autos during the season.

HUD sets meeting on water project in Columbus this week

Hubbard city officials will meet HUD representatives in Columbus to secure more funds for the water system upgrade. The city has a $360,000 HUD grant, a city match, and a projected total cost around $1.18 million due to inflation and guideline changes over four and a half years. The plan aims to raise pumping capacity from 750000 to 26 0 million gallons daily with three phases including a 750000 gallon tank and new mains.
