Residents to air complaints with TCI HUBBARD

Residents will voice concerns about TCI Cablevision at a public meeting January 14 at 7 p.m. in city council chambers. George Bufwack of TCI will answer questions as officials seek to address service quality, outages, and a recent rate increase while exploring city regulation options.

Santa's Workshop at Roosevelt Elementary Students Tour

Students at Roosevelt Elementary School toured the annual Santa's Workshop during school hours with help from Roosevelt School Parents Association members who offered gift ideas. Water district advances master plan with new engineering bid

Liberty Hubbard Girard and Liberty township trustees awarded a $43,750 contract to Youngstown consultants to develop a master plan for forming a water district. Four firms bid, with preliminary work valued at $5,250, as officials consider future raw water costs and lake purchases. The four and a half month timeline targets court approval.

Holiday deadlines shift for Christmas and New Year editions

The News announces holiday deadline changes for the Dec 24 and Jan 1 editions. Advertising must arrive by noon Wednesday Dec 19 for the Dec 24 issue and by noon Wednesday Dec 26 for the Jan 2 issue. News items must be at 35 W State St, Niles, by the same noon deadlines.

City workers approve new three year pact in Hubbard

Hubbard union AFSCME ratified a three year contract by 23 to 2 with increases of four five and four percent. The package includes a buy out plan a tiered incentive plan and job reclassifications to begin next year. Council passed a police sergeant position creation and approved Love Insurance Agency bid of eighty thousand fifty three dollars for citywide coverage.

Council awards booster pump station contract in Hubbard

Hubbard city council authorized a $33,900 contract with Construction, Inc. of Youngstown to build a booster pump station at Creed Avenue funded from the water replacement and improvement fund. Mayor Al Sauline Jr. said the project should start this month and finish in about eight weeks to relieve east side low water pressure. He noted the project fits a potential joint water authority plan with Girard, Liberty Township, and Hubbard Township and will not be wasted regardless of future changes. Council also advanced up to $15,000 to the Girard Hubbard Liberty Water Authority on Dec. 3.

FOP members to hear latest proposals on dispatchers

Hubbard Township faces cost saving proposals after a failed police levy. Fraternal Order of Police representative Patrick Daugherty plans a meeting with members to discuss township plans. Township legal counsel Mike Angelo notes dispatchers could be cut by December 1, depending on union agreement, while talks continue.
