Trustees hear ODOT on I-80 flooding not state problem
Hubbard Township trustees received an ODOT letter stating that flooding at Interstate 80 stems from a downstream condition near the U S 62 bridge. The encased conduit on state right of way is not a major flow restriction, and a Corps of Engineers study will address the issue.

Silence of a coal mine shaft to be filled at Panic site
The state will reclaim the Panic shaft at John White Road and Creed Avenue by surveying it mid year and beginning construction about six weeks after. The old entrance to the Panic mine was unstable due to abandoned shafts and debris filling, with a 100 foot depth and nearby coal tailings. Reclamation will layer glacial boulders, stones, and soil to restore the area, leaving it as natural as surrounding land. The Panic shaft is among several Hubbard area mines to be reclaimed, with others including Jacobs and Sons Number 3 near Bedford Road.
