Ohio House mulls end of Mayor's Court under new two tier plan
The plan by Rep Michael Verich would abolish Mayor's Court and county and most municipal courts. It would create district courts as the lower tier staffed only by full time judges and divide counties into divisions. Financing shifts to state over six years while administrative judges select district or division judges to ease backlogs.

Library Receives MacArthur Grant for PBS Video Collection
Hubbard public library has been awarded a MacArthur Foundation grant to acquire 20 classic PBS programs on VHS. The set includes American Short Story, The Constitution, Life on Earth, The Living Planet, The Story of English, Nova, Vietnam: A Television History, and The Jewel in the Crown, expanding the library’s catalog by over 200 hours. Additional titles include award winning films and various how to guides as listed in Library Page 3.

Hubbard School Board Repeats Bond Issue On Ballot
Hubbard Board of Education votes to place a 2 mill bond renewal on the November ballot. Voters previously rejected a similar levy May 2. Officials say approval will not raise taxes. Planned projects include high school window and door work, Roosevelt and Reed upgrades, roof repairs, and pool improvements totaling hundreds of thousands. Also approved 1989 football coaching hires for Hubbard outside district.

Reed School Sets Registration Dates for New Students
