Robert Hassan elected president of Hubbard Optimist Club replacing Al Gorence. New officers take over July 1: Lou Perry and Pete Dohollow as vice presidents, Walter Steele on the board of governors, Jim Davis secretary. Hassan and Davis plan to attend a district convention in Dayton May 7. Chefs of the week named Mike Vargo and Charlie Maxwell.

Tree Dedicated In Arbor Day Ceremony At Roosevelt School
Fifth and sixth graders gathered outside Roosevelt School for an Arbor Day tree planting. A dogwood tree was dedicated to the late Mrs. Celina Reinhart who taught there for many years. Students Richard Case Susan Bobby Gary Stiver Paul-Lynne Siverling helped plant as M. James Rhoades proclaimed Friday, April 24 Arbor Day. Marilyn Dubyak read a poem Birth of Arbor Day. Miss Beverly Sanker and her sixth grade chorus led singing.

Hubbard Man Receives Plant Award
Hubbard Arthur B. Hatch of Hubbard 825 Wheeler St. received a 1325 award from Westinghouse for a cost saving suggestion. The idea trimmed parts for a sudden pressure relay on power transformers, with payments totaling 360 in March 1963 and 956 in April this year after a year of savings. Hatch, a Sharon plant employee since 1946, has other cost reduction ideas and two patent disclosures under a company plan to foster inventions.

Puppet Making Demonstration For Hubbard Senior Citizens
The Hubbard Senior Citizens meet Friday at Grace Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mrs Dorothy Rosile will demonstrate puppet making and Miss Elvinna Lewis will show liquid embroidery. A sack lunch follows with entertainment. An intermission fish dinner is planned for May 8.

Hubbard Senior Wins Buhl Craft Award at Regional Science Fair
Hubbard High School senior John Porter Alexander won the Buhl Craft Award for his Pulse Jet Engine exhibit at the 1964 Regional School Science Fair held at the Buhl Planetarium in Pittsburgh on April 24. Porter is the son of Mr and Mrs James Porter of 22 Gardner St Hubbard. The Pittsburgh Regional Fair, sponsored by the Buhl Planetarium The Pittsburgh Press Science Teachers and western Pennsylvania corporations, featured over 100 schools, 86 exhibits and 150 awards. James Inglefield Hubbard physics and chemistry teacher and Porter Alexander sponsor received a Citation for Good Teaching at the Carnegie Library. Porter's exhibit also placed third at Hubbard Science Fair and earned an excellent rating at the District Space Fair in Fitch High.

Hubbard City Council will revisit disassociation from Hubbard Township as finance chief Wilson Patton argues the city now pays about 6000 dollars into the township treasury annually without recovering services. Free Chest X Rays Held In Hubbard TB Drive
A Hubbard TB program drew 327 people for free chest x rays last weekend, 204 on Friday and 123 Saturday, short of a 500 goal. Chairwoman Mrs. Claris Jones led the Hubbard Township TB Advisory Committee with members and helpers from the American Bonea pa Auxiliary and several local women assisting in registration and on-site tasks. A later summer house-to-house canvas in Jacobs Road is planned by the Triubull County TB Society.
