Hubbard C of C Plans World's Fair Gift Tours Weekend

Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce will award two 2 person weekend bus tours to the New York World's Fair via a drawing on April 28 as part of Community Trading Stamps. A new directory project includes 5,000 copies listing Hubbard families by street address. NEW OFFICERS elected include L. C. Alexander president and Edgar Knestrick first vice president.

Hubbard Park and Recreation Board announces that applications for playground attendants are available at Mattinat Cleaners. Applicants must be high school graduates and return forms by May 2.

Louis Bruno Named Hubbard Memorial Day Parade Chairman

Louis Bruno of 1155 Fairchild Dr is named chairman for the Hubbard Memorial Day parade. Parade plans will be announced and the route will be altered this year due to work at the E Liberty St bridge. Bruno invites organizations to contact him at 534 9052 to enter a unit.

Senior Citizens to Hear Talk by Rev Harry Hull

Rev Harry A Hull pastor of Hubbards First Methodist Church will speak to senior citizens Friday April 24 at Grace Lutheran Church Hubbard at 1 pm. The day begins at 10 am with Mrs Sadie Williams leading singing. Demonstrations include liquid embroidery by Elverna Lewis and cake decorations using gum drops. A fisherman's club may be organized for men. A future plan includes a visit to a pottery plant in East Liverpool. The group meets every Friday at Grace Lutheran Church.

Council Divided Over City Income Tax Vote

City council, 4 to 3, opposed bringing forth legislation for a 10 mill income tax on Hubbard workers. Estimates show $80,000 to $100,000 yearly from the tax with about 30 percent of workers from Hubbard. Arguments cited cash strain, potential layoffs, and calls to study finances before acting.

Festival of Band and Chorus Set Friday

Hub Bard High School bands and choruses present their spring concert Friday at 8 p.m. in Hall Memorial Auditorium. Anthony Basile directs both senior and junior choirs. senior band with lights from The Sound of Music. Tickets 75 cents adults 50 cents children. Band uniform drive May 14 15 16 led by Hubbard School Band Sponsors. Mrs Theresa Trucksis named general chairman of the tag day program.

Citizens Committee Formed To Study City Finances

Larry C. Alexander was named chairman of a 14 member citizens committee formed at a public city meeting. The panel met again to study the citys financial crisis caused by payroll shortages in the general fund and police, and a tax income delay from reappraisal. About 25 residents attended the session at Dollar Savings and eed to discuss the problem further.

The Hubbard Homecoming Association will meet May 6 at 8 p.m. in the City Building with Charles Ferrick presiding to discuss proposed bylaw amendments. Rev Roger Naftzer will speak at the Hubbard All Club dinner tonight April 23 at 6 30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Mrs William A Glaser as program chair and Mrs Dolores Fitzer presenting a piano selection.

Trustees Set 50 Fee for Zone Variance in Hubbard Township

Hubbard Township trustees approve a $50 processing fee for zoning variances and special exceptions to offset processing costs. The measure cites 218 from the attorney general and notes fees fund board meetings and required advertising. Additional actions include a $7,000 tax advance from the county and a meeting with city officials on Union Cemetery care. Ralph Salerno reported receipts of 3050 from state for undivided liquor permit fees and 1200 from county gas tax distribution.

Annexion Plan North Of Hubbard Sparks City Debate

City council began annexation steps Monday night for a large area north of Hubbard. Councilman Hanrahan introduced the measure and said a fuss could follow, but he wants to start the action. The site includes part of the Interstate 80 construction route and follows a boundary along Route 62, Route 7, Old Route 62, Mill Street, Fox North Road, and Route 304.

Hubbard Optimists Hear Talk on Oil at Meeting

Hubbard Optimists heard a talk on oil history by W. K. Morten sen, retired Sohio district manager, at the April 15 gathering in the club rooms. The program included a corned beef and cabbage dinner, a Lebanese dinner planned for April 29, and a May 16 $1,000 give-away. Dean Ferres will present pins to new members.

Tax Collection To Begin May 1 In Trumbull County

First half 1963 real estate taxes will begin May 1. Trumbull County treasurer Harold Williams will mail bills April 28. Taxpayers should contact the office if bills are not received by early May and complaints must be filed by June 1.

Rotary Club Wins District Service Awards

The Rotary Club of Hubbard won the District Governor's Cup for clubs of 40 members or less in Rotary District 665. The Masillon meeting recognized the club for overall Rotary Service with first in community service and second in club, international, and attendance service plus honorable mention in vocation service.
