Hubbard High School presents Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma on April 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. in Hall Memorial auditorium. Tickets cost 1.00 for children under 12 and 2.00 for adults. Director Daniel Forsberg reports polished performances after a dress rehearsal with Ursuline High School's Annie Get Your Gun cast.
Hubbard presbyterian church hosts Craft Club on April 13 at 10 a.m. with Recipe Plaque project. Members bring stained plaques, their recipe, border design, and a small brush as A Capella Boosters invite audience to enjoy the show and meet participants. Refreshments served. NILES It is time to start planning your trip to the Orient and Tuesday, April 13 you can receive information on a 17 day junket at an Orient Tour Party at Alberini's Restaurant at 8:30 p.m. The trip will include stops in Japanese cities, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore, with a three day visit to Hawaii on the way home. The tour departs November 5 and will be escorted by Pat Stauffer. Organized by the Warren Auto Club and sponsored by the Auto Club and Niles Publishing. Color films of the Orient will be shown and airline tour reps will be on hand. free refreshments.
Baldine Plaza seeks a hearing on Henry Ross’s on premise beer and wine permit at 619 W Liberty. The city votes to file objections citing proximity to schools and potential public order concerns, with a hearing set at Warren county seat. An emergency 1976 city budget and street funds were approved.
Hubbard City Council gave first readings to two contracts with District Council 1256 of the Municipal Employees Union and Hubbard Fraternal Order of Police. Key provisions raise funeral leave to five days away from home, higher meal pay, added holiday, and varied vacation scales. Overtime and pay terms for police and city workers are outlined, with final action expected April 12. two council members were absent.
A Bicentennial Grand Ball featuring a dinner buffet cocktails and all night dancing at the Brentford House this Friday April 9. Attendees wear colonial or period attire or formal dress. open bar runs 7 30 p.m. to 1 a.m. with music by the Pat Villano Orchestra. Tickets are 20 per couple from committee members led by Frank Moretti.
A siren warning test will occur April 8 at 1 11 p.m. by Youngstown County Disaster Services Agency with the weather service and emergency broadcasting system. Sirens will emit a steady blast for three to five minutes signaling a severe weather tornado warning. This is only a test of the system.
A Hubbard Bicentennial celebration song titled Hubbard Ohio was written by Dorothy Bullock to the tune of Oh Suzanna. It was presented to the bicentennial executive committee and will be sung at the grand ball on April 9 and used in the celebration parade June 14 to 18. The song will be distributed to Hubbard schools.
HUBBARD An Easter egg hunt for Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts will be held at Harding Park on Saturday April 10 from 2 p.m. to 3 30 p.m. Senior Troop 181 led by Mrs Rita Fusselman runs the event. Brownies assemble in the park parking lot across from pavilion 3. Girls may bring a small bag to collect eggs which should be well hidden. The hunt time was misstated in the May 31 edition of the NEWS.
Hubbard city police began an inquiry after a 1973 white Plymouth owned by Carl Marine at 865 Stewart Ave was stolen between March 31 and April 1 and found completely burned in Astabula County. The ignition was badly burned. A Ford truck break in at Westview Apartments yielded $149 in goods and a tool set worth $60 with a tape deck, taken by two males and a female in an older model car. A wheel disc valued at $22 was reported stolen from a car at Metropolitan Bank on Liberty Street.
