Girl Scouts elect officers at Warren banquet

Mary Ann Lucas of Warren will head the Lake to River Girl Scout Council for the coming year succeeding Suzanne Meikle. She led the 1983 Cookie Sale with a 14 percent increase and has served as vice president. Five girls earned the Silver Award, including four from Howland, and three adults received the Thanks Badge for years of service and support.

Latin Students Celebrate Rome Birthday at Howland High

Howland High celebrates Rome birthday with balloon messages inviting responses to the Latin program. Latin I and II wear togas, label building parts in Latin, read menus in Latin, and Latin III students teach at elementaries. Outdoor Roman games postponed due to cold weather but planned later.

Howland teachers discuss contract terms in talks

Preliminary talks have begun between the Howland Classroom Teachers' Association and the Howland Local Board of Education to renegotiate the compensation article for the 1983-84 school year. The present master contract runs to Sept. 1, 1984, and officials, led by Hart and Mackis, released the update after a letter dated April 21.

Morgan's Home and Lumber Center embraces Do-It theme remodeling

Morgan's Home and Lumber Center in Champion completes a 250000 remodeling begun in November. The Do-It Center plan doubles showroom space to 23000 square feet, adds 1500000 worth of inventories, featuring new decor, signage, and Do-It Center branding. Gary Dieter says the update will refresh the store image and enhance customer experience while expanding merchandise lines and computer pricing.
