Renewal of police fire levies eyed for Howland Township

Howland Police Chief David Hartsock says eight local officers will join nine surrounding departments for a two day survival encounter training session by Nutshell Training Concepts of Columbus. Up to 30 officers can attend June 17 and 18 with tuition of 18 dollars per person. Howland covers five participant slots free for their officers with three funded by a 90 dollar trustees grant to cover four others. The program focuses on physical and psychological survival and civil liability in closer confrontation scenarios.
