The National Weather Service says a slow moving cold front moving eastward through Arkansas will bring scattered showers and thundershowers through Wednesday. Most activity is expected in the west and north sections of the state. No important change in temperature.

ALMYRA Ark AP An Almyra rice farmer Glen Grandgeorge 45 was electrocuted Monday while welding a piece of farm machinery Arkansas County Coroner Russell McCollum said Grandgeorge who owned Grand Prairie Flying Service of Almyra apparently received an electrical shock from the welding equipment McCollum said.
Ozark Poultry Products Plant in Siloam Springs was destroyed by fire. Attorney W P Putman says a new plant is needed to sustain Northwest Arkansas economy, as the region leads U S poultry production. Plaintiffs in odor lawsuit vow to oppose rebuilding nearby. The fire marshal investigates the blaze and disposal plans seek other rendering plants within 200 miles.
Helena attorney Gene Raff announced an open hearing to review evidence from Saturday shootings of two black youths by prison searchers at the Phillips County Penal Farm. Four escapees sparked the incident. two wounded, one minor injury reported, and an ensuing inquiry into possible warrants.
