The forecast from the National Weather Service calls for increasing cloudiness and scattered thundershowers mainly in the northwest portion of the state on Friday. It will be a bit cooler Friday, then warmer Sunday and Monday with a continued chance of showers as the extended outlook suggests.
Arkansas weather forecast says rain ends by Sunday with clear to partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures. Overnight lows range from mid fifties to mid sixties across Harrison Fayetteville Jonesboro El Dorado Texarkana Little Rock and Fort Smith. Also lists newsroom staff and affiliated press and circulation notes.
Amtrak spokesperson Brian Duff said about 1.38 million dollars will be allocated over five years to improve the St. Louis to Laredo Inter-American route via Arkansas. He noted phased-in equipment from established routes, including bi level cars 25 electric locomotives and 200 coaches to boost commuter service and speed against airlines.

Ladbroke's lists Harold Wilson's Labour as 3-2 favorite to win the most Commons seats but odds show a potential minority. Gallup puts Labour 42, Conservatives 34, Liberals 20.5, others 3.5. in 635-seat House Labour 298, Conservatives 296, Liberals 15, others 24. two vacancies. Wilson seeks a majority to push Labour policy.
Detroit AP report says Dow Chemical chairman Don Carl Gerstacker urged a voluntary five and ten percent wage and price restraint to curb inflation. Ford and GM leaders pushed cautions on inflation and rules, with Ford calling for a commission to study raw materials demands and a safety and emission standards moratorium supported by GM.
Royce Pendergrass of Red River Vocational Technical School in Hope announced an Emergency Medical Technician Ambulance course starting Monday September 30. Sessions run 7 to 10 p.m. for 25 weeks at $25, including books and tuition. The program aids ambulance attendants and emergency personnel to meet Arkansas Health Department requirements.
