Weekend shower wrap likely ends by Saturday

The Associated Press reports showers blanket most of Northwest Arkansas and parts of Central Arkansas, with rain expected to ease by the weekend. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and cooler in the north with lingering showers and a few thunderstorms across the state, as a drier trend forecasts Saturday.

Obituary for Cecil Dixon in Lone Star Tex

Cecil Dixon died suddenly at his job in Lone Star Texas on Thursday morning. Survived by his wife Geraldine Murry Dixon, formerly of Hope, and two daughters, all of Lone Star. Graveside services 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Cemetery near Spring Hill, Oakcrest Funeral Home directing.

Sonny Meyers Midway and Arts Show Schedule Parade

Downtown Hope hosts an Arts and Crafts judging and official parade with Sonny Meyers Amusement Show opening at 9 30 am on Wednesday. Events include Women's Day demonstrations, evening shows, bull riding, beef and steer judging, rodeo, animal sales, talent shows, and square dancing through Saturday.

Deserters Begin Clemen cy Parole From Fort Leavenworth

Army deserters freed under President Ford’s clemency plan depart Fort Leavenworth for 30 day home parole. In Fayetteville North Carolina 28 men sent home from Fort Bragg and four draft evaders released from Seagoville near Dallas. Pentagon says 364 deserters inquired. 233 draft evaders and 59 deserters sought clemency information. Public opinion shifts toward a two year national service requirement.

Mrs Peron to address workers amid violence and threats

In Buenos Aires Isabel Peron plans a balcony speech to rally workers against threats to her government. The General Labor Confederation orders 20 million members to stop work for eight hours to boost turnout. The speech follows a week of violence with 11 dead and over 100 bombs, and no kidnappings of wealthy brothers by Montoneros.

Fish Fry and church services at Washington Temple
