Ford arrives with heavy security in Los Angeles where a motorcycle outrider and helicopter accompany his motorcade to an underground hotel entrance. At the hotel dinner, donors in private receptions greet him. security screens attendees as he shakes hands with major donors. In London a motorcyclist was stopped for a helmet and later crashed, escaping with cuts and thanking the officer.
The Building Safety Division of the Arkansas Department of Health announces that state natural gas licenses are now required for installing gas piping and appliances except ranges and stores. Licenses include supervising gas fitter and gas trainee registration, with practical work by gas fitters under supervision, and may be obtained without examination if applied for before January 1, 1976 with evidence of bona fide gas fitting work. Applications are available from city inspectors, gas utility officers, or by writing the division at 4815 West Markham Street, Little Rock, AR 72201.
Local 1091 UAW held its monthly meeting at 1712 South Elm Street with regular business addressed. Union Grove Baptist Church in Blevins plans an October 30 to November 1 revival at 7:30 p.m. nightly led by Evangelist Rev. James Honeycutt. Hope Jaycees announce Haunted Barn event on North Hazel Street by KFC, October 29 to November 1 from 8 p.m. to midnight to fund projects including Outstanding Young Farmer. Spook House tickets: 9 cents for under 18 and $1 for 18 and over.
Troop 92 from Hope claimed top honors at the Razorback District Camporee held October 24 25 at Millwood Lake. Four patrols competed in compass reading chariot race tug of war and fishing derby despite bad weather. First place went to Fonzie and Rat Patrols with Panther and Truckin Patrols taking second. Scout leaders listed include Clay Morgan Robert Gary Tim Armnold and Harold Sisson. Troop 92 is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church.
