Cool air moves south as Arkansas awaits rain end

The National Weather Service projects a 90 percent chance of rain across Arkansas today as a weak cold front shifts south from the northwest. Light showers and thundershowers formed near the front Tuesday night in northern and central Arkansas, with precipitation expected to end later today as the front passes.

WATERGATE becomes a part time federal case with the appointment of new special prosecutor Charles F. Ruff. Ruff, a law professor who once served as a trial attorney in the special Watergate prosecutor's office, takes over from Henry Ruth in November, but will not pursue the investigation full time. Watermelon City CB Club hosts coffee break turnout

About 1300 attendees including adults and kids joined the Watermelon City Area Citizens Band Radio Club on October 18 for a coffee break. A $1000 pool was donated to a youth center via a Parks and Recreation Commission trust, with prize awards and thanks to area merchants, KXAR, Hope Star, and local cookies bakers.

Pryor urges industry to curb Arkansas youth drain

Ozark Arkansas Governor David Pryor told about 300 at the Ozark Chamber banquet that Arkansans could stay if industry from Europe comes to the state. He cited 42 percent of graduates leaving for jobs and showed a Europe investor film detailing Arkansas strengths. Spanning two regions, the report also notes a Wisconsin farm lung disease finding.

SSC Livestock Judging Team Earns High Team Overall

Southern State College's Livestock Judging Team claimed High Team Overall for the second straight year at the Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport, with 10 teams in the Junior Intercollegiate contest. Paul Williams of Hope led as Overall High Individual, while Ronnie Doyal and Leon McKinnon placed high in Sheep and Steer Judging respectively. Arkansas ETV network expansion discussed at Kiwanis meeting

Sally Miller Perdue lectured at the Hope Kiwanis Club on Educational Television in Arkansas. Plans for KETS and four additional transmitters by 1976 were outlined, with the Arkansas Educational Television Commission operating the station from Conway and Redfield. United Methodist losses exceed 1 million members

The United Methodist Church reported loss of more than one million members between 1965 and 1974. The 100 member Board of Discipleship adopted a break even budget of 8 392 644 for 1976 after a reversal of a prior deficit. The board approved using 200 000 from general funds to cover 1975 expenses. The group also reaffirmed a fair employment plan to boost female professionals to 30 percent and ethnic representation to 20 percent among staff.
