Mrs. Lillie McSweeny Route 3 Prescott died early Tuesday in a Prescott hospital at age 83. She was a Methodist and is survived by five daughters, two sisters, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hern don Chapel with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial in Snell Cemetery Emmet.
At the IPAA annual meeting in Houston delegates urged Congress to restore the depletion tax allowance and other tax provisions to boost domestic oil and gas production. The group also pressed for complete decontrol of prices with Ford administration hints of possible restoration if decontrol stalls. A.V. Jones Jr. was elected to succeed John Miller as IPAA president.
Egyptian President Anwar Sadat meets Defense Secretary Schlesinger at the Pentagon and then President Ford at the White House in a push for American weapons. He praises U S policy shifts, urged a Palestinian state, and pressed for Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights and the internationalization of Jerusalem while demonstrations outside the White House call for Palestine.
The September U S foreign trade surplus fell to 976.4 million from 1.04 billion in August, the eighth straight monthly surplus. Imports rose 2.9 percent while exports grew 1.9 percent, led by a 9.5 percent jump in oil imports to 27 million barrels. Oil imports total 18.5 billion this year, up 3.4 percent from last year, while overall nine month balance stands at a surplus of 8.4 billion versus a year-ago deficit of 1.8 billion.

The Ark La Tex Conference of The American Lutheran Church held a retreat and convention at Holiday Inn in Hope with 60 delegates from Stuttgart Pine Bluff Hope Murfreesboro Shreveport Longview Texarkana. Edgar Hartgafield was re elected treasurer. A Lutherans in Minority project aims to expand Lutheran presence in the South.

Sen Adlai Stevenson III and Chairman Proxmire debated terms, with Proxmire insisting on a New York State tax provision. Meanwhile the House panel will hear from Treasury Secretary Simon on NYC default concerns.
In DES ALLEMANDS Louisiana a tractor trailer crashed into the rear of a stationary refrigerator truck and a school bus off U S 9, injuring 36 children. Three students were admitted to St Ann s Hospital in Raceland. Rescue crews moved the injured for examinations as investigators reported the incident.
