Water System Dedication at Strawberry Arkansas

Obituaries for Myrtle Madlock and Aaron Pred in Hope area

Mrs. Myrtle Madlock 55 of Hope died Friday in a Little Rock hospital. Survived by son Kenneth Ray Madlock, two grandchildren, mother Florence Sinyard, four brothers and four sisters. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at Herndon Funeral Home Chapel, burial Macedonia Cemetery. Pred G. Aaron 79 of Rt 1 Hope died Saturday in local hospital. Survived by five sons, two daughters, sister Mary Jane Travis, four brothers, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday at Anderson Union Baptist Church, burial Anderson Union Cemetery.

Court upholds election timing for Forrest City civil service panel

Marcos aide shot to death in Philippines case

The aide to President Marcos was killed after serving in many roles. He had been sent to the United States last February to meet Privilio Mijares, a journalist close to Marcos who later denounced the regime in San Francisco. Mijares said De Vega offered a bribe to appear before a U.S. subcommittee. Marcos denied the charge but said De Vega had provided Mijares money to spy on anti Marcos Filipinos in the United States.
