Living Cost Rise Held to Minimum
Washington reports September living costs rose two tenths of one percent, the smallest rise in six months, aided by grocery price drops but offset by higher housing, clothing, transportation, and medical costs. The CPI stood at 117.1, with weekly earnings averaging 103.41 dollars, while purchasing power lagged behind a year earlier. Commissioner Ross expects 1967 price increases to average 2.5 to 3 percent, lower than last year’s peak.
