Chance of Rain Forecast for Wednesday

Skies over Arkansas were partly cloudy today as a stationary high pressure ridge spans from the Carolinas to Texas. A rain-spawning low pressure system formed in Colorado this morning and is expected to move in later, bringing rain chances for the middle of the week.

Obituary of Mrs June Olea of Blevins

Mrs June Olea 50 of Blevins died Sunday after a months illness in a local hospital. Survived by husband Gordon Olea two daughters Virginia Hiscott and Genevieve Olea two sons Richie Hiscott of Blevins Bill Hiscott of Tucson Ariz and one grandson. Funeral services under Herndon Funeral Home will be at 3 p m Tuesday in the Funeral Chapel with Rev Richard Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Marlbrook Cemetery with Herndon in charge. Cinnamon is actually the bark of an aromatic laurel tree.

Spook-A-Rama and art contest at Village Shopping Center

Village Shopping Center hosts a Halloween Spook-A-Rama with two events on Thursday Oct 31. Immunization Clinic at Hopewell Sunday

Parents of young children are urged to immunize free under the Every Child in 74 drive in Hempstead County this month. State law requires immunization before public school enrollment. The Hopewell Elementary School cafeteria hosts the event Sunday October 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. Two buses will be provided by the Hope schools for transportation.

Snowy Interstate System Skews National Weather Picture

Snow blankets the Rockies and spreads toward the East Coast with temperatures dropping into the 20s as far south as South Carolina. Colorado faces heavy snow warnings and Wyoming warns against dangerous driving while a storm system moves through the central Rockies and fuels showers from Texas to New Mexico and Arizona. Richmond records 26 degrees before dawn with 35 mph winds in the central Plains. Clouds linger in Southern California Florida New England and the upper Mississippi Valley amid generally clear conditions elsewhere. The Date Line is described as zigzagging with Asia to its west and North America to its east.

Dangers of rabies outlined by PH vet for Hope leash vote

Public Health veterinarian Dr Harvey Ellis spoke at the Hope Rotary luncheon about rabies dangers to support the November 5 dog leash law. He urged vaccination of pets, keeping dogs under leash, and avoiding keeping wild animals as pets while noting testing remains painful and costly. Gerald Keith welcomed speakers and guest students Mike Bobo and Rusty Cole.
