The National Weather Service predicts a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers over the western two thirds of Arkansas Wednesday as a low pressure system over southern California moves east. Clouds will increase statewide with rain likely in the northwest on Wednesday.

Warm Winds Bring Springlike Surge To Arkansas Skies

Hope Star reports a warm and windy spell across Arkansas as a high pressure system over the southeast pushes warm southerly winds into the state. Monday saw temperatures rise about 40 degrees from morning lows eight degrees below normal, with highs around 80 expected today and near 80 again midweek. Gusts up to 33 mph are forecast in the northwest, with wind warnings for local lakes. little or no precipitation is expected Thursday through Saturday and overnight lows range from the upper 40s to the low 60s in cities like Little Rock, Pine Bluff, El Dorado, Texarkana, Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Harrison, Jonesboro, and Memphis.

Bond case upheld by Eighth Circuit over bond dealer conspiracy

The U S eighth circuit court in St Louis upheld dismissal of a 1971 suit accusing four Little Rock bond dealers of conspiring to fix prices on 3 million dollars in construction bonds sold by Pine Bluff. Judge J Smith Henley ruled the plaintiffs lacked standing to sue.

Mother's frantic search ends with three bodies found

Greenville mother Clemilee Smith urged police and newspapers to publicize her missing daughter Kathy Ann Smith. After 22 days, Kathy, 16, was found dead in the Reedy River along with Cynthia Jones, 17, and an unidentified young woman. Cause of death undetermined. sheriff calls it a triple murder.
