The National Weather Service says a cold front will lift the chance of rain in Arkansas by Thursday. Low level southeasterly winds continue to saturate surface air over the state.
The Hope Star reports widespread cloud cover across the southern two thirds of the state with highs in the upper 70s to 80s and cooler by Friday. Lows range from the 60s. Pinnacle readings include 88 in Pine Bluff and 81 in Harrison. An experiment station reading shows 87 high and 63 low for 24 hours ending 7 am Wednesday.

Earnest W. Davis, 66, died early today in Hope. He owned Davis Furniture Co and belonged to First Assembly of God Church. Survived by wife Clara, four sisters in Hope and Magnolia, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Herndon Chapel. Burial Memory Gardens. Herndon Funeral Home in charge.
Zurich AP reports actor Curt Jurgens and his fourth wife Simone Boucheron have reconciled on the eve of their scheduled divorce hearing. Divorce proceedings followed a 15 year marriage amid reports of a romance with a Greek filmmaker. Jurgens’ lawyer Erich Kaestilin noted the reconciliation motto was that divorce should not cost the freedom they seek. Eugene comment was unavailable.
Donald W. Josh, plant manager for Wynnewood Products Company of Hope, outlined the firm’s role as a Permaneer subsidiary manufacturing particle board, knockdown furniture, wall paneling, and vinyl coated boards. The Hope plant now produces four and a half to five million square feet weekly and could grow to eight to ten million with furniture operations starting within five years, employing 300 to 500 more workers.
