The National Weather Service reports no rain across the state through Wednesday as a stable air mass over Arkansas maintains dry, warm conditions. Light southerly winds persist, keeping temperatures on the warm side.
The Hope Star reports a warm spell across Arkansas with highs mainly in the upper 80s to near 90 and lows in the 60s. Texarkana reached 9 worse than elsewhere. Pine Bluff 48. El Dorado 86 tied with Memphis Little Rock and Fort Smith.

Merle Edward Bridges, 12, of El Dorado died from injuries after a Sunday collision on a gravel road seven miles south of the city. State Police identified the victim and noted the accident occurred near El Dorado.
Senator J Z Fulbright urges the United Nations to demand an immediate Middle East ceasefire and Israel's withdrawal from territories occupied since 1967. He also suggests Jerusalem be an international city and borders be stabilized by Council action with persuasion, then enforcement. Also reports a Little Rock rally in support of Israel.

San Francisco First Unitarian Church wedding joins comedian Red Skelton and Palm Springs sportswoman Lothian Toland. It is Skelton's third marriage and Toland's first. He quips the union is a double ring ceremony with one ring for her finger and one for his nose.

Earnest W. Davis, 72, died early today. He owned Davis Furniture Co and belonged to the First Assembly of God Church in Hope. Malvern Sheriff Arvilee Allen charges lack of prosecutions fuels rising shootings in Hot Spring County. He urges stronger felony prosecutions and says the prosecutor, not deputies, must handle cases. A group of 23 Arkansas state legislators filed a Pulaski County Chancery Court suit Monday seeking a permanent injunction to remove University of Arkansas at Little Rock professor Dr. Grant Cooper. The suit accuses him of violating six state laws including anti-communist employment statutes. Cooper defends his teaching as from a communist viewpoint, while supporters urge upholding laws and removing him from state-supported teaching. The defendants include UALR Chancellor G Robert Ross state Treasurer Nancy Hall and UA Board of Trustees members.
