Two women died in separate Arkansas fires yesterday. Mrs. Effie Colvin of Stuttgart suffocated trying to save $400 from her burning house after a kerosene heater explosion. Mrs. Henrietta Ramsey, 82, of Texarkana burned to death when her clothing caught fire while burning grass in her yard.

Four U S soldiers including Kenneth J. Reynolds of McGehee Arkansas face a Japanese judge to decide if their trial should move from a Japanese court. Attorney Frank H. Scolinos sought transfer citing local bias after an incident in a Mabashi pinball parlor in which six Japanese policemen were injured. The defendants are Allan C. May of Chicago Walter R. McKenzie of Detroit Jessie Nortyke of Minneapolis and Reynolds aged 22.

Judge Lyle Brown of Split Hickory Corp says construction is starting next Monday December 5 on a new plant after a fire destroyed the wood working facility. Twelve local workers were employed prior. Production will be limited until completion and a contract for a new building was let.

It called strengthening the Office of Education's role while balancing local needs with national education aims.
State Police investigated two crashes near Hope with no injuries but significant property damage. A tractor owned by Charles Hare and driven by Lee McKenzie was rear ended by a vehicle from Gadsel Arizona on Highway 67 three miles east. A Athens Can ning Co. truck from Athens Georgia rolled over after starting to move for coffee at Perry's Place three miles east, jacking a ditch and blocking Highway 67 for over three hours.
