Ruby Keeler in Critical Condition After Brain Surgery

Dancer and actress Ruby Keeler, 64, is reported in critical condition after brain aneurysm surgery at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls Montana. Her daughter Mrs. Peter Pratt of Lewistown says she was operated on last week and is recovering as well as could be expected.

Army to honor Sen McClellan with Distinguished Service Award

Washington AP Sen John L McClellan of Arkansas will receive the United States Army Association Distinguished Service Award at Ark O Tex chapter dinner at the Red River Arsenal Officers Club. A 32 year senator and former Appropriations Committee chair, he enlisted in 1917 and later served as a lieutenant in the Army Signal Corps Aviation Section, forerunner of today’s Air Force.

Burton rapped by legislators

London AP says Conservative lawmakers criticized Richard Burton for calling Winston Churchill a coward and blood lusting medieval bandit king. History book about Hope centennial to be published

Harry Shiver announced the Commemorative History of Hope Arkansas 1875 1975 will be available the first week in December. The 140 page volume covers Hope from early days to present with data on churches schools city departments and Hempstead County plus 15 Century citizens and historical photos.

Transit subsidy bill awaits Ford signature

The 11.8 billion mass transit subsidy bill, urged by supporters to prevent bankruptcies in subways and commuter lines, awaits President Ford's signature.
