State and City Aid Bill Tabled
Washington AP reports the House postponed a $5.3 billion state and city aid bill for at least two weeks to pursue votes through compromise. Proposals would reshape the measure by ending automatic five year funding, and require year by year appropriation reviews while preserving advance funding for budgeting by local governments. The delay followed a Rules Committee vote of 8 to 7 clearing the bill for House action under sponsor and White House conditions.
