Six school districts that spent $38,631 on civil rights litigation in 1965-66 were reimbursed for $19,315 by the state Board of Education. LITTLE ROCK AP A writ of Prohibition issued Monday by the Arkansas Supreme Court stopped a habeas corpus hearing scheduled in Faulkner County circuit court Wednesday for convicted slayer James Dean Walker. The high court ruled Walker could appeal only from the Pulaski County circuit court where he was convicted. Special Judge Phillip Stratton had ruled Faulkner County lacked jurisdiction due to concerns about Judge William Kirby. Walker, of Reno Nevada, was convicted twice in the 1963 slaying of North Little Rock police officer Jerrell Vaughan. one conviction was overturned but he faces life imprisonment on the second conviction.

Woman, Infant Son Killed in Three-Car Crash
