Tetanus Claims Six in State

LITTLE ROCK AP Six Arkansans died from tetanus last year per a Health Department report on communicable diseases released Saturday. The annual tally shows declines in tetanus and typhoid fever from 1965 to 1966, with three malaria cases in 1966 compared to one in 1965. Only one Poli t case was reported in the year.

Four Winners Named in Southwest District Barbecuing

Donald Middlebrooks of Shower Springs 4-H Club was among four winners in the Southwest District 4-H Barbecuing Activity held Saturday afternoon June 10. Other winners were Rhonda Daniel Vandervoot Jackie Jewel Cover and Eddie Kirchhoff of Bonnerdale. Twenty six 4-H'ers participated in the event sponsored by District Poultry Festival Sears Roebuck Foundation and conducted by the Agricultural Extension Service. The four winners will represent Southwest Arkansas at the state activity in Hot Springs June 24.

Plaque to Honor Late Foy Hammons

On Saturday morning June 17 1967 Bobcats who played under Coach Foy Hammons will dedicate a plaque to his memory in the stadium bearing his name. Former players from classes of 1938 39 and 40 will reunite with Bob Ellen as Master of Ceremonies. Coach Hammons coached Hope from 1934 to 1945 and had an outstanding record. The plaque will be set in concrete on the north steps leading into the stadium on the west side of the field.

Hope Junior Auxiliary Art Course at Youth Center

The Hope Junior Auxiliary will sponsor a six week children s art course at the Youth Center starting June 2.
