Democratic State Committee to answer suit over primaries
Little Rock June 12 The Democratic State committee will file its answer to a suit testing Act 107 which splits state and federal primaries. Attorney Lesfer Gentry said the committee will deny the allegations in Lee Whittaker’s suit and an intervention by Parker Parker. Chairman Arthur Adams and Gentry expect an early court ruling. The suit asks to place Whittaker’s name on the state run off August 13, arguing the act is unconstitutional. A special subcommittee was appointed to respond and Whittaker’s suit follows only one county in the Fourth District making provisions for federal primary financing.
